The world’s largest Two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda is all set to enter the African market and is busy planning out its operations there.
According to the Joint Venture between Hero Group and Honda Motors (1984), Hero Honda is not allowed to export its motorcycles to most of the big markets where Honda Motors has already established its supremacy. In order to ply with this, the African market seems to be just perfect. Hero Honda presently exports its motorcycles to small countries like Sri Lanka, Bangla Desh, Nepal and a few Latin American countries. The firm’s exports amount to 100,000 units out of the 4.5 million units it manages to sell every year.
The company presently has 3 manufacturing plants of which two are in Haryana and one is in Uttarkhand. The combined production capacity of all the three plants is about 5 million units per annum.
